Literary Essay: Noah Vaughn

The Call of the Wild with connections is a book written by Jack London that tells a gripping story about a dog named Buck who goes through many different challenges and overcomes many different things throughout his journey to go back home. He was kidnapped by some men and taken to a warehouse where he was beaten with a club, and then bought by a man named Francois to become a sled dog. He met a lot of different people and had to go through many different obstacles and fights to become the leader of all of the sled dogs.

In the story, Buck managed to take all of the pain and suffering and grow stronger and become a great leader in the end, so that shows that the theme is to never give up and that what doesn’t kill you does make you stronger. When he was beaten with a club, he got back up almost 15 times and came at the dude again, and eventually stopped and couldn’t go anymore, but it ended up motivating him to be stronger and he ended up becoming a great leader.

He was bought by Francois and Perrault and he kept fighting to be the best sled dog that he could be. There were constant fights with the leader, Spitz, and ended up defeating to become the leader of the sled dogs and overcomes everything. This shows that he ends up proving himself as a dog and never gave up. He became stronger over time and was able to defeat Spitz.

I believe that the theme is to never give up and that doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but I know that there is more than likely people that would probably disagree with that. I believe that this is the theme because of the two examples that I gave in the last 3 paragraphs, on how he kept fighting and working hard enough to rise to the top and be the best out of everybody. He worked through all of the pain and grew and grew over time to be able to defeat Spitz and become one of the greatest leaders of all of the sled dogs.

So now, at the end of the story, he proved himself and became an amazing leader to the other sled dogs. Overtime he overcame a lot of different obstacles and learned from his mistakes and improved. In conclusion, this is why I believe that the moral and theme of the story is to never give up, and that doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

The School Schedule

As I walked through the schoolyard, I noticed how miserable and horrible the kids looked as they walked towards the front door to enter the school. I checked my phone, the time read 6:30. I sighed as I walked inside to be welcomed by the teachers waiting at the door, sulking towards the cafeteria door to take a seat and wait for the bell to ring. All of the kids around me looked just as miserable as I felt. The clock struck 7:10, the loud boring bell ringing throughout the corridors of the school. I went to my locker and pulled my books out of my locker, then walked into my language arts class, where half of the children are asleep or nearing sleep. I have noticed that most mornings that I am at school, the kids are insanely tired, on the verge of sleeping in class and all. I think that this is because of how early in the morning that we have to actually wake up to go to school every day. I believe that the school schedule should be changed to where we go to school later in the day. Our first class starts at 7:20, and most of the time the school and most of the kids get to school before the 7:10 bell for passing goes off, so around 6:50 is when we should be at school. I think that this is a very big concern for most students and parents because being more tired is very effective to how you perform throughout your school day.

Most teenagers should get at least 8 hours and 30 minutes of sleep each night to be able to perform to the fullest extent during school. Every morning when I walk into school or while I wait in the schoolyard, I notice that most of the children are exhausted to no end, with bags under their eyes and slowly walking and slowly doing anything or performing any task. I think that the elementary schools should have to go to school around the times that we do now and that we should start later in the day instead because we needs to get more sleep to be able to perform better. Teenagers, like people between the age of 12-14, are the most important when it comes to schooling and in turn, should get more sleep and be able to have a later start and finish time, starting at around 7:50 instead of 6:50, and end at 3:15 or 3:30 instead of 2:15.

“I hate the school schedule,” says Jacob Miller. “I hate having to wake up so early and I hate my alarm.” I’m pretty sure most other students would fully agree with Jacob. The school schedule constantly messes with and dampers the way that students perform in school and throughout the rest of the day. Most kids believe that the middle school schedule should be swapped out with the elementary school schedule. Teenagers require a lot more sleep than the elementary students, and that’s why I’m also in favor of what the high schools schedule is like now. Teenagers naturally need more sleep than the younger kids because they can gain energy easier from resting up at night and naturally can go to bed easier because they don’t have as much to work on at night and not as much to do after school.

“I try to get 9 hours of sleep per night but I end up having to stay up late to catch up on my schoolwork,” says Torrelle Hardy. “I get enough sleep per night but I would like it if we had a different schedule so it would be easier to get everything done,” says Zachary Walker. “I also tend to find that most kids are always fatigued every morning too when they come to school.” I also have lately noticed that the school schedule makes it more difficult to complete any type of homework that we have in any classes because of the low amount of time given after school. I believe that the school schedule should be swapped out with another schedule of some sort, and if it did, the impact it would have on the students everyday would be tremendous and it would really end up being for the greater good. I’m yawning right now because of how early in the morning it is. Every single middle school student would do better and be happier.

The School Schedule

My topic that I chose to write about is the school schedule. I have noticed that most mornings that I am at school, most of the kids are insanely tired and even on the verge of falling asleep again. I think that this is because of how early in the mornings that we have to actually wake up to go to school every day. Our first class starts at 7:20, and most of the time the school and most of the kids get to school before the 7:10 bell for passing goes off, so around 6:50 is when we should be at school. I think that this is a very big concern for most students and parents because being more tired is very effective to how you perform throughout your school day.

In conclusion, the current middle school schedule is something that should be changed and many students are not in favor of it.

BREAKINGS NEWS(cast)

On a bright sunny morning in Mr. Hoerings 8th Grade Enrichment Language Arts Class, everything seemed fairly normal. Jacob Miller was being stupid, I was chilling in my seat yelling “ESKETIT”, and all was right in the world. Suddenly, out of nowhere, Mrs. Oaks came in between the separating wall and said that she had a special and important announcement. Mrs. Oaks stated that there would be a new dress code rule of school uniforms being enforced after labor day. Everybody sat there absolutely devastated by the thought of of having uniforms.

Immediately after Mrs. Oaks left, everybody went insane. People were going crazy over the ridiculous news of the uniforms, but everybody later found out that the ridiculous news was false.

I Am A Reader

I decided to pick the book 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea by Jules Verne. I picked this book because I wanted to try out a new genre of book and I wanted something that I knew would keep me occupied for a long time, and the book has almost 850 pages in it, so I think that this will stay for a bit. I also have heard a bunch of good things about Jules Verne and how he’s won a bunch of awards and made a ton of books and stuff and he was a highly respected author for all of his work. Also I thought the movie was pretty good too.
